About ChildsPlay 101

ChildsPlay101 was an idea that came about after years of listening to parents talk about their frustrations when trying to plan extra-curricular activities for their children. The information was spread out over so many different websites and program guides that it was difficult and time-consuming to find just the right program for their child.

I wondered, "Why isn't there one central place for all this information?" And then I thought, "Why not build it!" I saw a need in the community and filled it!

ChildsPlay101 was launched in 2009 with the goal of helping build a community of kids involved in activities that promote self esteem and social interaction by identifying community resources that kids can access themselves or with their families.

Childsplay101 gives youth in the greater Victoria area the opportunity to connect with their peers, their communities and community leaders. Our site connects our youth, their parents, educators and youth workers to the businesses and organizations that support them.

ChildsPlay101.com showcases all the options for getting children active & involved in the community by:

• Bringing awareness to just how many different types of programs are offered.
• Providing the ability to find programs tailored to specific needs.
• Listing programs such as family / free events & adapted programs that might otherwise not have a venue.
• Providing a free & easy way for clubs & organizations to promote the children's programs that they offer.

For the past several years, ChildsPlay101 has championed small independent companies and facilities that offer adapted and special needs programming, and community organizations who offer free resources, camps and programs.

We want children of all ages to connect with their neighbourhood communities and become more active, start feeling better about themselves and living healthier lifestyles.

We believe in participating in the community in a positive and responsible way. This happens in a variety of venues, from supporting local businesses and events, to promoting charities by helping to fundraise and offering free publicity on our sites.

As ChildsPlay101.com continues to grows, I will always be thankful to my family, co-founder Cindy, project manager Chris (Mr. Wonderful), all the parents, caregivers, sponsors, advertisers and facilities that have helped along the way.

Cheers,
Carmen
